This video shows you how to program a Honeywell 5816 wireless window/door contact into the Honeywell LYNX Touch L5210 wireless security system using a external hardwired contact programmed as perimeter.
The Honeywell 5816 has a special feature which allows you to hard wire one contact into the external contact terminal of the wireless contact. This works great if you have garage style doors that require a special contact. In this particular video we are programming the contact to be instant/perimeter. This setting will set the alarm directly off if the contact is separated from the magnet.
The Honeywell 5816 Door/Window contact is a two zone wireless transmitter with both built-in magnetic reed switches and wired closed circuit contact loop. It features a standard white plastic case “a brown case is available in packs of three 5816BR” and included is a supervised replaceable CR123 battery. The Honeywell 5816 contact's are one of the larger contacts that Honeywell develops aesthetically but, for overall usage the 5816 contact is a great addition to your wireless security system. The Honeywell 5816 has a large antenna, which gives you a better connection back to the Honeywell L5210 system.
An additional feature that the Honeywell 5816 has is its ability to carry one hardwired contact. This application is perfect for garage doors needing an overhead garage door contact. All you have to do is hard wire the overhead garage door contact to the provided terminals inside the Honeywell 5816 wireless Door/Window contact, program the contact as a loop one instead of loop 2.
