If you have just moved into a house with an existing Interlogix Concord Express hybrid security system you are probably wondering how can I get central alarm monitoring for the panel? You have come to the right place. We will be going over our suggestions to allow for your Concord Express system to send its alarm signals to a central monitoring station such as GEOARM Security.
Note: The Interlogix Concord Express hyrbid security system has been discontinued and is longer available for purchase. The direct replacement for the Concord Express is the Concord 4 hybrid security system.
Phone/Voip Line Alarm Monitoring Services
The first option for alarm monitoring of an Interlogix Concord Express security system is via phone/VOIP line alarm monitoring services. Security systems for over 30 + years have been connected to central alarm stations using phone lines. Even though phone line systems have a lower monthly monitoring rate they don't provide end users with the most reliable mode of communications as phone lines can be cut by a possible intruder. If this was to occur the alarm signals will not reach the central station. Lastly, while using a VOIP or regular landline you will not be able to remotely control your system using your smart devices. In order to utilize phone line/ VoIP communications, you must have your installer code to access control panel programming menu. Keep in mind Vonage, OOMA or Magic Jack are not supported methods of communication unless you have one of their advanced packages. It is still worth a shot so if this is the case sign up and have one of our techs give it a shot.
To enter programming mode with a Concord Express system simply go to your keypad and enter 8, 4321,00 you should see system programming.
If you don't see system programming try this same process on all of your keypads. If this does not work on any of your keypads that means one of two things. The first is that you don't have a programming keypad. The second would be that the previous installer has changed your installer code from factory 4321. If this is the case we may still have a better monitoring option for you which will be listed below under cellular communications with no installer code.
Wi-FI Alarm Monitoring Services
A second option an end user would have when it comes communicating alarm signals back to a central alarm monitoring station is via Wi-FI communications. If you have a Concord Express you can add a Alula BAT-WIFI. In order to use the Wi-Fi alarm monitoring option end users must have their installer code to access programming. With this option, you will not have any kind of remote control from a smartphone application because the Bat-Wifi does not support this feature with this particular control panel. If you are looking for remote control via app control than you will have to make sure you have your Concord Express installer code and purchase a compatible Bat-LTE communicator which will be listed in this article below.
Lastly, Geoarm Security doesn’t recommend Wi-Fi as an option because it is not the most reliable way to send alarm signals to our central station receivers. The reason being is that if an intruder before breaking into your location cut your power or internet lines your alarm will not be able to report its signals to the receivers for dispatching.
Cellular Alarm Monitoring Services Without / With Installer Code
The third alarm monitoring option for an Interlogix Concord Express is via a Telguard Tg-1 Express cellular communicator. The Tg-1 express is a great universal cellular communicator that can transmit your alarm signals through the cellular towers which is the most reliable way. A great feature of the Tg-1 express communicator line is that end-users that don’t have their installer code in most cases can still utilize this option. If you have your installer code to your panel than this option will most definitely work for you.
There are 3 questions you must ask yourself in order to figure out if this product will suit your application if you don’t have your installer code.
1) Has the alarm system been monitored at some point?
2) Do you have the codes to arm/disarm the system?
3) Is your Concord Express system in working order?
If you have answered yes to these 3 questions then congratulations the TG-1 express universal cellular communicator is a compatible module. This option is truly amazing because it allows you to have Telguard cellular alarm monitoring services without having your installer code or replacing your control panel. This module is very easy to install into your panel as it only requires 4 wires. Once you have installed this device to the Concord Express with the power off you can power the system up and write down the serial number from the communicator to allow for one of our techs to remotely activate your communicator and test that the signals are reaching our central station receivers. The only downside to having this option when you don’t have your installer code is that it will not allow for end users to remotely arm/disarm their system with any sort of application for smartphones.
With Installer Code - if you have your installer code there is an option for Telguard interactive alarm monitoring services where consumers can remotely arm/disarm their system using a smartphone app. For interactive monitoring services to work your alarm control panel must have an extra zone available. If this is an option you are interested in contact us as we can guide you through making sure your communicator is wired correctly for this type of application.
Dual-Path Alarm Monitoring Services
The fourth and final alarm monitoring option for an Interlogix Concord Express hybrid security system would be using a dual-path alarm communicator. The dual-path alarm communicator we recommend using is the Alula BAT-LTE. This dual-path alarm communicator option will transmit alarm signals to our central alarm monitoring station with Alula alarm monitoring services. If you are looking for interactive alarm monitoring where you can remotely arm/disarm your system you will want to use the BAT-LTE communicator because it will offer remote control from smart devices. The BAT-LTE will offer Wi-FI as primary and Cellular as the backup communicator.
For this option to work, you will need your installer code to enter Concord Express programming. To see if you can enter your programming menu simply go to your keypad and enter 8, 4321,00 you should see system programming. If you don't see system programming try this same process on all of your keypads. If this does not work on any of your keypads that means one of two things. The first is that you don't have a programming keypad. The second would be that the previous installer has changed your installer code from factory 4321.
If this is the case there is no way to default the Concord Express panels installer code so you will want to go with the option we discussed previously the Telguard Tg-1 express and no interactive monitoring will be available unless you decide to upgrade to the new Interlogix Concord 4 hybrid security system.
